Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Programmes

The Residential Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Programme runs during both the summer and winter months; the duration is 5 days and 5 nights.

Dates for 2020 Courses

Winter:  16-21 Feb 2020

Autumn: 11-16 Oct 2020

For both Summer and Winter courses candidates assemble at Gulabin Lodge on the Sunday evening before the start date of the course. Gulabin Lodge is set in a stunning location on the Cateran Trail at the Spittal of Genshee, has private rooms, all beds have duvets, underfloor heating, showers, common rooms with open fires and on site staff. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering purposes. Briefings will be given on the Sunday evening of arrival for the exciting week ahead and the activities commence first thing on the Monday morning. The course is a full residential experience and will tick all of the boxes for the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Residential award. The week’s will be challenging physically but great fun!

Autumn Courses

Dates: 16-21 Feb 2020
The cost is £360 per person

Spend a week with other DofE Gold participants volunteering in and around the Cairngorm National Park and staying in the beautiful Gulabin Lodge at the Spittal of Glenshee.
Volunteering: Work on the 100km long Cateran Trail helping to maintain the trail and conserve the local environment.
Not just volunteering: Learn some 1st Aid in the Outdoors and challenge yourself with some High Ropes; Pole Climbing or even an Evening Walk in the Hills.
Cateran Trail: 100km of Mountain and Glen in Perth and Kinross

Work alongside experienced volunteers and professionals maintaining paths, walls etc and enjoy the majesty of the Southern Highlands.
Learn new skills; meet new people; practise your cooking; make a difference!

Other activities may include, High Ropes, Mountain Biking, Zip Wire, Pole Climbing, and Hill Walks from the back door of Gulabin Lodge. We are also AALA Certified .

Winter Courses

Dates: 16-21 Feb 2020
The cost is £375 per person

During the winter months the planned week is based around a skiing/snowboarding experience at our Glenshee Ski and Board School based at the Glenshee Ski Centre.  A full package of instruction is provided to improve  skiing or snowboarding techniques.  In the case of poor snow conditions other suitable outdoor activities are offered.

Details of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Winter Course are as follows;

5-day Ski/Board hire including, ski’s/board, boots, poles.
4 hours daily tuition with a fully qualified instructor. Race on the final day.
Daily transport to Glenshee Ski Centre.

5 Day Full Area Lift Pass Cost is £125

A £50 deposit is required to secure a place on any course and the full balance will be due 6 weeks prior to the start date.
